Traffic Violations We Handle in Tulare County

We represent passenger-vehicle and commercial drivers charged with infractions and more serious traffic offenses. Each case receives direct attorney attention based on the alleged violation, citation details, and potential consequences.

Our traffic defense work includes:

  • Speeding tickets
  • Speeding Over 100 MPH
  • Reckless driving
  • Misdemeanor offenses
  • Cell phone tickets
  • Red light tickets
  • Stop sign tickets
  • Driving without a license
  • DUI charges
  • License suspensions

Commercial Speeding (CDL) matters require careful attention because a conviction can affect a driver’s record and livelihood. We also defend commercial drivers cited for lane violations, overweight violations, log book violations, passing scales, non-emergency stops, and over-hours violations.

Tulare County Traffic Court Procedures

Tulare County traffic citations are handled by the Tulare County Superior Court Traffic Division. The division operates through the Visalia courthouse and the South County Justice Center in Porterville, so the court location depends on how the matter is assigned.

Case numbers beginning with VTR or VJT are heard in Visalia on Tuesdays or Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m. Matters beginning with PTR or PJT are heard in Porterville on Fridays at 8:30 a.m. Drivers should confirm the information on their citation or court notice because scheduling and assignment details can change.

Speeds over 100 mph require a court appearance. California Vehicle Code section 22348(b), which applies to driving faster than 100 mph, doesn’t allow the charge to be resolved simply by paying the listed fine in Tulare County. Our attorneys usually handle court appearances for clients, although the requirements depend on the charge and the court’s instructions.

What Happens After You Contact Our Attorneys

We begin with a free initial consultation to review the ticket details and discuss potential outcomes. You can learn about the allegation and our proposed approach before deciding whether to retain us.

We use a flat fee for traffic defense work. Our attorneys usually handle required court appearances, allowing many clients to remain at work or school instead of traveling to court. We prepare each case to protect the client’s driving record and pursue available resolution options, but we don’t promise a particular result.

Options for Resolving a Tulare Traffic Citation

The available procedure depends on the violation, eligibility rules, and the court’s requirements. Contesting a citation, requesting permission to complete a qualifying course, and seeking financial relief are separate options. Not every driver or offense qualifies for each one.

Trial by Written Declaration

California Vehicle Code section 40902 allows a driver to contest an eligible traffic infraction through a Trial by Written Declaration. This procedure uses written submissions rather than a personal court appearance. Eligibility and whether this approach fits the case depend on the citation and applicable court rules.

Ability-to-Pay Review

A driver whose financial hardship prevents payment of both basic household needs and the full fine can request an ability-to-pay review from the Tulare County Superior Court. The court may reduce the amount owed if the driver qualifies. The court, not our firm, determines eligibility and the relief provided.

Traffic School Eligibility & Costs

As of 2026, Tulare County traffic-school eligibility requires a valid noncommercial driver’s license and a qualifying violation committed in a noncommercial vehicle. Reckless driving, DUI, and hit and run violations are excluded. An eligible driver pays a $68 court fee plus the bail amount and a separate fee charged by the course provider.

Discuss Your Tulare Traffic Ticket with an Attorney

Request a free consultation by phone or through our contact form. We offer evening, weekend, and phone appointments, along with Spanish-language support for clients who prefer to discuss their case in Spanish.

Our attorneys handle your case directly rather than passing it to paralegals. We can review the citation, explain the applicable court procedures, and discuss our flat-fee representation without promising a specific result.
