Authorities state that the man, whose identity was not released, was stopped for speeding on Interstate 8 in La Mesa. Instead of stopping, the man fled into El Cajon, stopping only when he crashed into a parked minivan.

The man sought refuge in a nearby shed, and surrendered to police after a one-hour bloodless standoff.

When you're pulled over, many people have a natural tendency to try and avoid punishment by running from the police, verbally if not physically. In other words, we may comply and pull over, but then try to talk our way out of the ticket. This is especially true if you have outstanding warrants, or something similar.
