Previous posts have discussed the Negligent Operator Treatment System (NOTS)
process and the defenses available at a NOTS hearing. After considering
the evidence, the hearing officer - who is not a judge and probably note
even a lawyer - enters a decision that is supported by a preponderance
of the evidence (more likely than not).
Following the close of evidence at the
NOTS hearing, the hearing officer may take any one of several course of action.
