Taking your hands off the wheel, manual
distracted driving, is just the most obvious form of distracted driving. There are two other
kinds of distraction, which are every bit as bad:
There is always some level of distracted driving. We adjust the air conditioner,
talk to fellow occupants, adjust the radio or simply think about something
other than driving. So, while distracted driving itself is not inherently
dangerous, at some point a line is crossed and distracted driving becomes
one of the most serious driving hazards.
There is no way to eliminate distracted driving, and any product claims
to the contrary are inaccurate. Are some of the
hands-free devices coming onto the market a benefit or a hazard?
